Our Story

Built from the inside,
for everyone outside.

Deltashark exists because the gap between what aspiring investors have access to and what professionals use every day is far too wide.

From Imperial to the trading floor

Deltashark was founded by Burak Gunduz. After graduating from Imperial College London, Burak joined Marble Bar Asset Management, a London-based hedge fund, where he co-managed a $250 million long/short equity book. The work involved institutional-grade research, proprietary model development, and capital allocation decisions across a concentrated portfolio of global equities.

The problem with how finance is taught

Before entering the industry, Burak went through the same path most aspiring finance professionals face. Online courses, DCF models in spreadsheets, investing books, and hours spent trying to piece together how professional investors actually think and operate.

The courses were useful up to a point. They covered financial modelling mechanics and valuation formulas. But they stopped well short of what actually matters on a trading desk: portfolio construction, position sizing, risk management, factor exposure analysis, macro awareness, and the discipline required to manage a book of positions through volatile markets.

Beyond education, there was a more fundamental issue. The data and tools that professional investors depend on, from institutional-quality financials and analyst estimates to earnings transcripts and macroeconomic dashboards, remain locked behind Bloomberg and FactSet terminals that cost $25,000 a year or more. Without an institutional seat, access simply does not exist.

What Deltashark set out to build

Deltashark was built on a straightforward conviction: the public should have access to the same calibre of data, tools, and training that hedge funds provide their analysts internally.

Not a simplified version. Not an introductory tutorial. Institutional-grade market intelligence paired with a structured curriculum covering everything from accounting fundamentals through to portfolio construction, risk management, and interview preparation. All in one place, at a price an individual can afford.

We built the platform we wished had existed. A single environment where you can learn the theory, apply it with professional-grade tools and live market data, and build a verifiable track record that demonstrates your ability to the firms you want to work for.

Education that mirrors the job

Most financial education stops at teaching you how to build a model. Deltashark goes further because the role demands far more than modelling.

How do you construct a portfolio that balances conviction with diversification?

How do you size a position relative to your risk budget?

How do you interpret a macro environment and understand its implications for your book?

How do you monitor factor exposures to avoid unintended concentration?

How do you write research that a portfolio manager will act on?

These are the questions that define day-one readiness at a hedge fund. Our curriculum, written entirely by professionals with direct industry experience, is designed to address them.

Institutional data, accessible to everyone

Deltashark brings together the data professionals use every day: comprehensive company financials, financial ratios with sector benchmarks, analyst consensus estimates, earnings call transcripts, SEC filings, macroeconomic indicators from the Federal Reserve, and real-time market data across equities, fixed income, commodities, and currencies.

Interactive financial models including DCF, three-statement, and scoring models are built directly into every company page. A stock screener lets you filter across market cap, valuation, growth, and sector. A dedicated macro dashboard organises economic data into preset thematic views.

The portfolio simulator allows you to take long and short positions against live market prices and track your performance over time. Your public profile gives hiring managers a direct, verifiable view of your positions, performance, thesis documents, and financial models.

And our research reports, written by former hedge fund professionals, cover equity, macro, sector, and thematic analysis at the same standard you would find on an institutional desk.

The mission

The financial industry has long reserved its best training, tools, and data for those already inside. We believe that needs to change.

Talent is universal. Access is not. Deltashark closes that gap.
